Tired of Clorox wipes and running to the store for more cleaners? Here’s your chance to try your hand at making natural cleaners at home.
Notes:
- Use plastic lids on the jar that you make these cleaners in! The acidity in the cleaners will eat through metal lids.
- Don’t use these cleaners on granite or marble–they will eat through the finish.
- You can add a few tablespoons of rubbing alcohol to either of the following recipes to increase cleaning power.
Orange Peel Cleaner:
Orange peel cleaner is a great antimicrobial and antibacterial. Follow the recipe, below to make the orange peel cleaner. Do note that this will take about 3 weeks to make up.
This is a great way to utilize your citrus rinds (which cannot be composted).

Pine Needle Cleaner:
This cleaner uses just pine needles and white vinegar–do note that it takes about 3 weeks to set up. Unlike the orange peel cleaner, this is ALSO antifungal–so it is great to use in wet or musty areas like a bathroom.
This particular cleaner is ALSO a great degreaser because of the make up of the pine needles.
It does not smell as great as the orange cleaner, but you can add essential oils for smell, if desired.
